Fionna had went there previously with Alice and we went over the weekend to get a glimpse of the place, which was supposed to be more organized and much bigger.

I bought a China bone mug for RMB 10, and some other crockery.

We also bout a hybrid (tiger) rose and some jasmine flowers. Check out our creation which Fionna visualized and asked the florist to do it.

Went to Shintori for dinner one evening with Fionna. It was a long day at work, but it was a good day because I had received an unexpected complimentary email from a client, which I had been working hard at getting some recognition. Anyhow, the decision to eat at the place was very random. I had previously been in there once to have a look at the ambience but have never eaten there before.

We both had the Set Dinner (), but I had to have mind revised a little, as I did not eat cheese and I do not eat turtle. The food was good at CNY 220 pax. The service was also good. Sashimi was very fresh! The most exciting part of the entire dinner was that all the presentation of the food was in very exquisite manner.

Went to Century Park this afternoon for the JZ Music Festival. It was a 2 day event (today was the 2nd day) in the park, where various musicians performed in the park and us the audience lazed around in the park. There were 3 main focus for the performances – Dance/Ensemble/DJ, Jazz and Folk/Rock & Roll. We started of at the Jazz stage where a Taiwanese band played fusion jazz, mixing Chinese instruments with traditional instruments to make jazz music. We then went to the rock and roll stage where a Raggae style jamaican band was performing and that was more energetic and fun.

Lots of food, lots of people, nice bright sunny day. It was a good day in the park.

Went back to Prima Taste (dianping) for a second time while my mum was i town as we were in the vicinity again, after making a visi to the tailor at Lu Jia Bang, which was terrible at altering my mum’s pants. In the end, we went back a total of 3 times before the pants was finally altered successfully.

Now, back to Prima Taste … please do not order the Tao Suan. It is supposed to be a starchy dessert of green beans, but it turned out to watery and diluted. The garnishing (you tiao) was hardened and over fried and was such a bad dessert. Considering that Fionna only had that for dinner seemed like such a terrible pity.

Stiff, over fried you tiao

I personally had the Char Kuay Teow. The taste was rather authentic, but the noodles were not right. So, it was a half satisfying meal for myself. In fact, there was cockels missing from the dish which would have made a huge difference.

My mum had the Laksa, which is this bright red bowl of soup with coconut milk and spices. It was quite good, but it was missing some elements – Cockels.

Anyhow, I think only the chicken rice was the best dish from Prima Taste.

The ambience was great and the service was prompt. This was the third time back to the restaurant and we had tried both the pasta and the pizza. Although comparative to Penne Ivino, the food is not as great, the food was still good as a restaurant 10 mins walk from home.

Fionna & Mum enjoying a glass of wine

By using the Enjoy Shanghai card coupon, we had a free bottle of wine which was quite a decent house wine. No minimum spending, just show your card and the coupon and you get that free bottle of wine.

The place has been renovated since the last time I have been back. The food, however, remains as good as ever.

Frog Porridge (1st, the Frog)

Then, the Porridge

We also ordered a dish of Prawn Paste Chicken Wings, which was very authentic and true to the taste of what I am used to in Singapore!

Mum loved the food as it was very much to her taste.

I have not worked on a Sunday officially in the office for a while, ever since the days when I was in the UAE. Due to the upcoming October Holiday period, there is a requirement for staff to work on 9/27 ( Sunday) and 10/10 (Saturday) to make up for 2 days so that everyone can hve an extended 8 day holiday break.

So, working away in the office we did.

After work, went to chill out at Xin Tian di with F & JJ at the Fountain (See The Fountain on Dianping.com. They serve very authentic Fish & Chips which I had been eyeing since the last time I was there with W, JJ and F as well one fine Sunday afternoon.

As a starter to my meal, I first had my familiar Margarita (RMB 60), which was quite well done, though I found the alcohol content alittle lacking.

Among the 3 of us, we had Fish & Chips (RMB 140) and a bucket of Mussels, served in white wine sauce and bread (RMB 105).

The Fish & Chips was great! They used cod fish fillet for the dish which was well cooked – soft and sweet. The batter was crisp and did not have the overly oily feeling. Fish portion was a little small, but considerig it was cod rather than the common dory, I shall let it pass. The fries was like “good” junk food.

The bucket of mussels was cooked in white wine sauce, which I felt was too buttery. F had this, so she could have taken it. For me, I think I would have puked. The mussels, however, were nice and succulent.

Enjoy 10% off if you use the ENJOY Shanghai card at this restaurant as well.

Thanks to F for organising a birthday dinner at M1NT with JJ and W. M1NT was on the 24th floor of the old Premas building. Now, I have no idea what building it is called. The food was good there and the drinks were great, just that the alcohol content was high so beware if you have low tolerance for alcohol.

They serve bread with olive oil and sea salt as a starter. The bread would have been better warmed though. We then had rounds of Soft Shell Crab with Peanut Sauce and Tempura Squid with Thai Chilli Sauce.

For mains, I had the Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce and F had the Grilled Seabream.

The salmon was great. It was cooked very well, soft on the outside and slightly raw in the middle.

The seabream was grilled very well and the fish was nice, soft and sweet.

Finally, after the very shocking incident on the way to the toilet, which is currently P&C, we top off the dinner with a wonderful ice cream cake from Haagen Daz.

This was a vanilla, peach and mango ice cream cake topped off with frozen peaches, blueberries, strawberries and rasberries. The rim of white chocolate was very good. yum yum!
