Bought a set of rotten eggs at Lian Hua Supermarket; the produced date was the date of purchased. I had specifically chosen a set of eggs with the longest expiration date and to my shock and horror the eggs were all rotten.

The most obvious reason was that the eggs had been on the shelf for so long and was not sold out and hence the tag was simply switched out and continued to be sold. Things only get better if someone complains!!!

Fionna had went there previously with Alice and we went over the weekend to get a glimpse of the place, which was supposed to be more organized and much bigger.

I bought a China bone mug for RMB 10, and some other crockery.

We also bout a hybrid (tiger) rose and some jasmine flowers. Check out our creation which Fionna visualized and asked the florist to do it.

Was at Hyatt on the Bund for my haircut and saw this huge number of yellow ducks on the little pond that streams at the basement of Hyatt. It was so cute, those little ducks, just like that that we use for the Great Singapore Duck Race back in Singapore on the Singapore River.

After my haircut, I realised that the ducks have been packed into trash bag and placed outside in the open. Were they throwing the ducks away? Pity!

I picked out 2 little ducks (there were 2 sizes – full size and baby ducks) and then went to clean them off in the toilet. Now, I am a proud owner of cute little babdy ducks. Of course, that itsn’t really something to shout about, but it looks cute, and I can have it floating in my tubby.

Went for my hair cut at Next Salon at Hyatt on the Bund, Shanghai. I have finally given in the the temptation of going back to a familiar and comfortable salon to cut my hair. The hair washing service, which includes a 20 min head massage that goes all the way to the shoulders and back was much better that that in Singapore. I guess, massage therapist do a better job in China since they have so much more avenue for them here.

My hair was cut by the senior stylist – Joey. He understands my hair, which is something I appreciate from my hair stylist. He told me that I had thick hair and that my fringe needed to be slightly shorter because if left long would appear fine and be too contrasting with the rest of my head. I agree! He also recommended the same brand of hair wax – Gatsby! (Black version and pink version.)

Anyhow, here is me after the cut:

Many things are happening at work … good to be busy as everyone says. The new guy in the office is surely feeling the on-going dynamics of the company and I believe he has his hands full with the multiple accounts he is handling. It should be even more exciting him when my colleague eventually leaves – she is going into film and production!!!

It’s been raining “Cats & Dogs” over the past few days and it is great weather to fall asleep in but terrible way to be out and about.

Went to Challenger to “withdraw” my member points collected over the past 2 years and I exchanged it for a total of $70. Not going to renew the membership since I don’t intend to be in Singapore soon.

I went to Borders to browse as I had a coupon for 30% and a member card for 15% for any originally priced book. Spent a long time at Borders deciding what to get. Was looking at getting a book by Jack Griffin: How to say it at work, but the book was not in stock.

While I was at Wheelock Place, I popped up to the Apple Store to see if I could get anything for the remaining value in my gift card … nothing to buy … BUT, while I am at home, I was contemplating getting the Apple Airport Express. Portable wireless, portable music … Sounds cool!

Fast food ain’t so fast

Have you realized that fast food chains nowadays do not serve up food as fast as they used to. Even though, fast food has always been labeled as “junk food”, I believe that there was a time many, many years ago that the food served by McDonalds or Burger King was a lot fresher.

I used to be impressed with both the service and the quality of the food at McDonalds. They had a strict policy that customers should not be kept waiting for more than 60 secs. Unsold food that have been prepared more than 15 mins could not be sold to the consumer. Such was the stringent quality checks in place. Nowadays, the service has dipped tremendously. You wait and is served by a cashier who takes your order and your money. You then wait for another staff to prepare your order. In effect, you wait in 2 queues for your meal. Your meal has now graduated to being “freshly prepared”. In this fashion, McDonalds does not have to impose the 15 mins throw away rule to maintain food freshness. Unknown to most consumer is the fact that the ingredients, including the burger patty, has all been prepared earlier and are all sitting in drawers. After the burger has been “assembled”, the entire burger gets heated in the microwave to ensure you get your “fresh”, “piping hot” burger.

Burger King does exactly the same!

It’s upsetting to see such large food chain compromising on food quality and still continuously increasing the prices of a burger/meal.

I realized how much I was in love this morning, when certain keywords mentioned or “thought of” could trigger such a strong emotional tirade. With the knowledge of this, I am even more certain of what I want in my life and who I want to be with and what I want to do.

Good night to all, hope the weekend has been good to you.

Went for a Balinese Massage this afternoon with my mum who went for a facial.

It was a wonderful day for sleeping, the rain was pouring and the weather was cool. The massage was good. The therapist mentioned that I had very stiff lower back, especially on the right. She advised me to drink more water and to see how to have better posture to relax the muscles there.

It’s nice to have my iPhone … while I sit around waiting for my mum to finish, I could surf the web, listen to music, etc … (“,)
