Had this idea while I was lying in bed last night.

Homes are often filled with cobwebs at all the inconspicuous areas such as corners, behind the cupboards, table edges, etc …

My question is: If there are so much cobwebs, why don’t I see the spiders?

Cobwebs are definitely a by-product of spiders, so where are all these tiny, small, invisible spiders hiding?

Anyway, my solution to get rid of cobwebs is to have some form of spider repellent, either in the form of a high frequency emitting electronic device, or a spray with spider repelling smell, or a tablet/powder form which repels spiders. By removing the cause, we get rid of the unwanted by-product of cobwebs all over the house. That was our homes will be sooo much cleaner!
So, any spider specialist out there?

There are many websites that software as a service providing word processing, spreadsheet capabilities, CRM all over the internet. They do away with the computer and have the internet take center stage. For me, I feel that the computer is something very personal. Moreover, with more people having laptops, their computers become even more personal as they bring along their laptops with them on holidays, business trips, to bring their lifestyle with them, to bring their customized virtual world with them. What I see lacking is he capability for users to sync all their important information from their computer to the internet and have these information replicated at another computer. Not just replicating a webtop, but replicating the entire computing environment that a user is accustomed to.

It’s definitely a major feat with the networking capabilities of today and the amount of storage required is quite immense. Yet …

Consider:

You are at work on a Friday night. You have work unfinished. You sync your computer to the internet. (It should not take too long.) You return home and you sync your home PC with the internet and the office environment is replicated in your computer. It is midnight and you have not finished your work. You have a plane to catch as you are suppose to away on a short trip to a remote island in Philippines and you know that there will be no internet access over there. You grab your laptop and sync it with the net and you go on your trip. On your trip, you are still able to work on your all important document Fortunately, you had not decided to work your document on one of the many online editors, otherwise you would be unable to work on it on the island due to the lack of internet access. (Satellite phones are still too expensive) At the end of the trip, you had enough fun and was also able to complete your work. You return home and sync your work to the net. Monday comes and you return to office and with a quick sync, you get all your important documents ready for the early morning presentation.

The sync I refer to is akin to a handheld-PC sync where information is updated both ways to allow for full communication over all devices.

Anyhow, syncing of information is a tedious and huge task that no single company has been able to solve to date. It’s always a hassle to transfer information around and for the non-techies, it’s always too difficult and tedious.

There is Burger King with juicy burgers, there is McDonalds with tasty burgers too, but there isn’t a chinese style fast food, that is really easy for the consumer to consume.

Mantou with fillings maybe though by many to be pau (chinese buns) but they can be more that that. The fillings can be grilled fillets, stewed meat, stir fried vegetables, steamed sweet pastry, etc … The mantous can also be created as finger food. Smaller bite sized mantous can be made, grilled, bbq-ed or deep fried and served with delicious dips such as curry, ‘chilli crab’ sauce, bbq sauce, honey, etc …
It is about the proper packaging to allow the consumers to eat the food with ease. Taste and sizable portions are basics that must also be fulfilled.

I think recently there was a stall in Singapore that has already set something similar to this.

Adults, and children and infants all have varying butt sizes. It’s a matter of fact. Even thin people and fat people have varying sizes. All toilets to date only have seat covers of a single size. Occasionally, there will be more thoughtful toilet owners who will have children seat covers which are a fit over the original toilet seat cover.

What I propose is a multi seat cover all fitted as one piece onto the toilet bowl. The top most layer is the one with the smallest circumference and as you lift up the varying toilet seat covers, the circumference of the seat gets larger and larger to accommodate varying sizes of people. I am not able to illustrate it with a picture, but the concept is similar to the toy which is a single doll and you open it up and a smaller doll is within and this goes on till the last final doll which is the smallest.

Probably not the most revolutionary idea, but it could be much less of a hassle for million of parents who bring their kids out and have no means for their kids or infants to utilize the public toilets effectively. They usually just carry their kids while the kid does their ‘business’ dangling from their parents hands. (Neat!)

Early 2005, after my NOC stint, I came back to Spore and had this idea of creating a customizable homepage where I can view all the contents of the blogs I read, the news site I visit and etc on a single page. What I did not want was to have RSS feeds as aggregating all the news from various sites will result in a homepage with no diversity in terms of design. Everything will be uniform and of the same design. What I wanted was to be able to see the design of all the sites that I was viewing. I believe that the author of the various sites put in effort to design their site and I would want to see it. In fact, colours, layout and etc are also reasons for me to visit sites.

The page looks something similar to the above, with windows of adjustable size, that gives a glimpse to the real page. Windows can be resized to any width, height or to a thumbnail version or even to a mere text version. In thumbnail and text version, I propose that a mouse over preview be generated which allows the user to view what is on the website without actually opening it into full view.

In addition, users will be able to click on various windows of choice and the site in that window will be maximize to full view for browsing. After which users can choose to minimize it again. Webpages are also updated similar to RSS feeds and by the window, there can be information indicating the most recent update time for each page, informing users if pages have recently been refreshed.

This site should use Web 2.0 technology to provide user convenience and customization.

Something similar to this is currently present in netvibes.

Music (mp3) downloads have been increasing in volume whether it is legal or illegal. iTunes Shop is doing very well so are the many pirated channels.

This idea is to use a file sharing network such as bit torrent to allow people to have access to music files.

User A pays a certain amount for a music file which the user A will download off the file sharing network. After the mp3 is in the user A’s computer, it will also be part of the entire file sharing network and if another user, user B purchases a similar mp3, the file sharing network will tap into all users with that mp3 in their computer to expedite the download of the mp3 for user B.

User B and all other users who shared their mp3 in their computer will be paid a small nominal amount equivalent to the amount of data transferred.

In this manner, the company will paid for each download, users who share their mp3 will be paid a small sum for their data transfer and the music labels will be paid their royalty. The act of giving a small amount of money to users who share their music files is to encourage users to download mp3s legally from the company, as only files purchased from the company can be shared on the file sharing network.

Of note: Bit torrent has recently began to sell video files through its network. Many technological and sales challenges are present for this idea to work.

“Your personality does not have to be only 1 colour.”

Many vehicles on the road are driven by people who have vibrant and very colourful personalities. These people have fancy clothes and attractive accessories to match their taste and preferences, but their cars remains a single colour, and more often that not, a safe but dull colour.

Why should your car be a single colour? For something that cost so much more than your handphone, and is so much more obvious to the public, a car should reflect the driver’s personality.

This idea proposes to use stick on materials that are traditionally used to create advertisements on buses to create fanciful designs for vehicle owners. This method is cheaper than spray painting a vehicle and it’s temporary nature makes for easier change in design. After all, your mood changes with time, and so should the clothes you wear, and the vehicle you drive.
