Went back to Prima Taste (dianping) for a second time while my mum was i town as we were in the vicinity again, after making a visi to the tailor at Lu Jia Bang, which was terrible at altering my mum’s pants. In the end, we went back a total of 3 times before the pants was finally altered successfully.

Now, back to Prima Taste … please do not order the Tao Suan. It is supposed to be a starchy dessert of green beans, but it turned out to watery and diluted. The garnishing (you tiao) was hardened and over fried and was such a bad dessert. Considering that Fionna only had that for dinner seemed like such a terrible pity.

Stiff, over fried you tiao

I personally had the Char Kuay Teow. The taste was rather authentic, but the noodles were not right. So, it was a half satisfying meal for myself. In fact, there was cockels missing from the dish which would have made a huge difference.

My mum had the Laksa, which is this bright red bowl of soup with coconut milk and spices. It was quite good, but it was missing some elements – Cockels.

Anyhow, I think only the chicken rice was the best dish from Prima Taste.

After a Saturdays work I was craving for a pizza treat at Casanova along Julu Rd (Hua Shan Rd).

Casanova is an italian tugged away in Jingan District. The ambience was great and the service was prompt. This was the third time back to the restaurant and we had tried both the pasta and the pizza. Although comparative to Penne Ivino, the food is not as great, the food was still good as a restaurant 10 mins walk from home.

Fionna & Mum enjoying a glass of wine

By using the Enjoy Shanghai card coupon, we had a free bottle of wine which was quite a decent house wine. No minimum spending, just show your card and the coupon and you get that free bottle of wine.

The meal was great and was only RMB 236 for 2 large sized pizza that made us really full.

This restaurant – Prima Taste (check out dianping) – was an off shoot from the familiar package brand that did laksa, chicken rice, fish bee hoon soup, etc that singaporeans all loved to eat.

Tucked away in the little corner of Megabite (大食代), this little restaurant served very good Singapore food. The chicken rice was good, their fried Kuay Yeow was quite authentic, although they do not use the right kind of noodles.

Amongst the 3 of us (my mum, fionna and I), we ordered Rojak, Satay Bee Hoon and 2 chicken rice …

Rojak (Fruit, vegatable salad)

The dish was authentic in taste and most of the ingredients was indeed present. A tad salty, though.

Satay Bee Hoon

The dish was good, but I found the satay sauce alittle diluted. There was also too much Tau Pok on the dish.

Chicken Rice

This dish was quite a steal at this place. It cost RMB 32 which is much less than what it cost at Rendezvous or at Orchard CRC. The rice was authentic and fragrant. The chilli was good and to top it off they game me a whole drumstick, including the thigh.

Dinner was good, after a tiring day at the tailor (Lu Jia Bang) where my mum was making her clothes (that is another event that needs a whole post of its own).

The place has been renovated since the last time I have been back. The food, however, remains as good as ever.

Frog Porridge (1st, the Frog)

We also ordered a dish of Prawn Paste Chicken Wings, which was very authentic and true to the taste of what I am used to in Singapore!

Mum loved the food as it was very much to her taste.

It was a day of FEASTing.

Woke up to a lazy Sunday morning, after a long night assisting to complete a pitch document.

Went for lunch at Acadia with my Grandparents, my auntie, my grand aunt and my mum. It was a good meal to have. Not advisable for people without a vehicle, though. It is very far from the main road.

After that accompanied my mum for 3 hours to shop at Giant, as she gleefully grabbed all the special offer items! (“,)

Had dinner at East Coast Park, Little Red House.

HUGE Sri Lankan crab in Black Pepper style and Chilli style. Also had Geo Duck (something my brother wanted to try) and we all felt that it was totally underwhelming. Overall the meal was not too bad, a tad pricey, but there sure was alot of crab to eat.

However, I noticed that the crab meat was not very sweet. Compared to the Hairy Crab (tiny little fellows) that I get in Shanghai, these huge crabs did not taste as succulent.

Oh well! At least everyone had a good meal.

It is an interesting combination – honey and yogurt. Honey is something that I love – sweet and fragrant. Yogurt is something that I detest – smelly and makes me puke. Yet together it was combined in the massage. I tried this Traditional Javanese Massage and apparently it was good for the skin. I still prefer the more traditional Balinese Massage or the Ayuvada. It was a relaxing afternoon nonetheless, until evening came when I went shopping with my mother at CK. She wanted to get loads of household stuff and it was heavy and tiring!

Had a most interesting dinner with my grandparents. The food was so – so, but I must recommend the Chicken Wings that this auntie friend of my grand ma gave to us. She was the cook at Nasi Lemak stall at 29 Jalan Membina Coffee Shop and she gave us some freshly cooked Chix wings. It was delicious. Crispy on the outside, with flaky crips all over and soft, juicy and tender on the inside. Yummy!!!

(Posted 1 week late, due to network problems)

The plan was similar to the plan we had for Mothers’ Day roughly a month ago. Pick my Grand parents up early and head down to Red Star Restaurant for their reknown Dim Sum. The previous time, the queue began at their restaurant door (at the 7th floor) and snaked down to the 5 1/2 floor!!! We decided to surrender and went to Tiong Bahru‘s Lao Beijing for lunch instead.

Today, we went down early with my grand parents, mum, auntie and uncle arrived before 11.30 am, which apparently was not early enough. There was already a queue of about 20 m long. Hmm … If we were to wait, their entire restaurant customers would have to turn over and that could be at min. an hour.

So unfortunate. The last time I went there for Dim Sum was with Ms Lee and friend, coming straight from the airport at about 11 am too. There was no queue. Perhaps, it was just a few days before the Lunar New Year and so no body was out and about for dim sum (all at home in preparation for the festivities).

We headed off and ended up at Yan Palace (Fook Hai Building) for Dim Sum. This was the usual restaurant that my mum and I go to at Warren Country Club. The food was good but, once again it was overeating! Ate so much … for dinner I think I shall have something simple.

And today is Dragon Boat Festival (端午节) a.k.a Ba Zhang Day.
