Went for the Chinese play after hearing good reviews about the play. The play was held in a small little theatre on 586 Ningbo Road (Guangdong West Rd). A good amount of people was watching the play. Mostly, the younger audience.

The play was good and the actors/actresses were all convincing. The plot was as Agatha Christie had wrote it, in suspense till the end when the protagonist, with all the red herrings to deter the audience attention – Hercule Peirot – made the judgement and tricked the thief and murderer into admitting himself.

is not for Michael Jackson, neither is it for Madonna.

It is for the most popular artiste of our modern time – Lady Gaga. The first celebrity who reached 1 billion views online.

Seems like this darling of the media is doing everything right in terms of marketing and PR. With a combination of online social media platforms, a website that connects it all and a widespread digital PR coverage, Lady Gaga is fast becoming the most talked about/largest celebrity ever.

Of course, it helps that Gaga has a controversial background and that her style is both loud and explicit. Consumers love these! Couple all these in a package that is easy to share and forward to friends, it becomes the greatest marketing campaigns after Obama’s Presidential Campaign.

Caught the movie this evening with bb and jj. The theatre was very underwhelming, small and slightly dirty, a faint glimmer of my really bad experience in Singapore at Chinatown Point many, many years ago.

The movie was sooooo Tim Burton and I loved the treatment of the entire show, it’s a dreamy, fantasticl wonderland that Alice got caught up in. Though I read the book as a child, I don’t quite recall. The movie doesn’t seem to be exactly like the book. I believe this is an Alice in a different timeframe.

Johnny Depp was great as the Mad Hatter, but Anna Hathaway was really a bit strange as the white queen. The other characters were fun and definitely added comical relief to the movie.

One strange thing about the show was how it tried to have an ending that linked to China. It appears that in the west, there is a certain obsession with China that seems to be getting stronger these few years, with evermore movies ending/linking to China. Hmm …

Went to Century Park this afternoon for the JZ Music Festival. It was a 2 day event (today was the 2nd day) in the park, where various musicians performed in the park and us the audience lazed around in the park. There were 3 main focus for the performances – Dance/Ensemble/DJ, Jazz and Folk/Rock & Roll. We started of at the Jazz stage where a Taiwanese band played fusion jazz, mixing Chinese instruments with traditional instruments to make jazz music. We then went to the rock and roll stage where a Raggae style jamaican band was performing and that was more energetic and fun.

Lots of food, lots of people, nice bright sunny day. It was a good day in the park.

Just read this book by Mamoru Itoh. This book comes highly recommended by F for the simplicity in how it communicates the meaning of communication. A simple analogy of playing catch ball.

I agree with one of the points in the book where the author says that problems in communication when people meet for the first time is not due to the nervousness of meeting for the first time, but really the effort people make to hide their nervousness and try to not make things wrong, in the process making things go wrong and then hiding things that have went wrong.

Do check out the book if you have a chance – see “i want to tell you about my feelings” on Amazon

I was taking of the price tags from books which I purchased from both Kinokuniya and Borders.

The one from Kinokuniya gave me such a hard time, breaking up into multiple pieces, with the price tag sticker sticking on to the book at multiple places. It was a total nightmare “cleaning” off the price tag!

The one from Borders was a breeze. I simply scratched off a corner and pulled. the price tag came off totally clean.

As you can see from the photo above, the condition of the Kinokuniya price tag truly depicts the difficulty of removing it. I wish they would just follow the Borders standard.
