2 egg prata, 1 cheese prata, 1 ice milo, 2 teh halia cost S$ 8.40 at an Indian eatery near my office.
I knew Indian food was expensive, but it is increasingly becoming high-value food!
The cost of the food is pathetically minimal, yet the amount they charge is so high. Perhaps, we are paying for the rare skill of prata flipping and frying. Quite a dying trade, considering the many hawkers out peddling their “wares” of flimsy and soft prata with watery curry stew. blah!
At least the one I ate this afternoon was of decent quality, unlike a certain prata shop at the northern part of Singapore near the Kayu area. Beats me why the crowds continue to revisit that place.
Instead try out the prata shops along Thomson Road. There a number of prata shops along that stretch and although there are specific ones which are really good, you can’t go too wrong with any of them.
By the way, while you are at Thomson Road, be sure to try out the Kampong Chicken Rice, too. Yellow skinned chicken rice is succulent and goes wonderfully with the fragrant rice. Aw … this is making me hungry at such a late hour!!!
